03 01 2025 Utah Rockhounding Hanksville and Old Notom Road Areas

03-01-2025 Visited the John Wesley Powell Museum and the thrift store in Green River and then drove to Hanksville. We then explored the Old Notom Road area near the east entrance to Capital Reef National Park. In Hanksville, we found agate and several different colors of selenite and couple Devil's Toenails. On Old Notom Road we found tons of Devil's Toenails, selenite and some other rocks that need to be identified as well as the dried stalks of the Desert Trumpet plant. We tried another spot off of Notom Road, following a dirt path called Notom Bench North a short way. Notom Bench North was in bad condition and pretty well washed out towards the top of the first hill. We found tons of agate in this area. Saw some mule deer, free range cattle and a jack rabbit on the way home. We noticed lots of stored house boats around Hanksville and Utah State Highway 24.
